Dr Chip McClure

Chip is known as an experienced, enthusiastic social dancer who loves to play with the music and create a dialogue with different partners on the dancefloor. Over the past ten years she has danced at many international congresses and trained with inspiring teachers across the world. Chip is a trained musician, with a degree in music from Cambridge University and a PhD on philosophical and sociological aspects of salsa, exploring the lead/follow dynamic and ideas such as self-expression and connection. Chip has taught for years in schools, universities and on sports fields, and finally began to apply her teaching experience to salsa after being invited to give weekly classes with SuperMario in London. Chip launched the Music Moves project in 2014 to encourage social dancers to develop greater awareness of the music, to be creative and playful in their dancing, and to emphasise the importance of connection between partners.
